Data Debates is a collaboration between The Alan Turing Institute and the British Library and aims to stimulate discussion on issues surrounding big data, its potential uses, and its implications for society. Data is a powerful tool that could help reduce inequality, enabling us to better understand and quantify key global issues. But machines are inheriting the same biases that exist in the offline world and faulty algorithms, when applied at scale, risk making things less fair than ever.
