The Royal Society's report on machine learning and its potential for the UK

Recent years have seen great strides in machine learning and it is apparent that developments in machine learning will impact the future of work. People increasingly interact with systems that utilise machine learning such as image recognition systems, voice recognition and more. In this report, the Royal Society investigated public attitudes towards machine learning and identified that while most people were not aware of machine learning, they did know some of its applications. The results showed great diversity in the attitudes towards the use of machine learning depending on the application area and the report concluded that support for the vibrant field of research in machine learning can help ensure continued public confidence in the deployment of machine learning systems.
