The European Commission launches consultation on high performance computing in Europe.

This consultation, open between 3 August and 5 September 2017, aims to get stakeholders perspectives on topics around high performance computing in Europe, such as the challenges, its value, the objectives and the practical aspects of implementation.

The results from this will be used to develop Euro High Performance Computing (EuroHPC) initiative, which aims for Europe to have world class High Performance Computing technology available to the public and private sector. This legal instrument is planning to be introduced in 2018, with the HPC initiative adopted in 2019.
