The National Audit Office releases an updated report on the reasons why NHS data were compromised by hackers through the WannaCry computer virus in May 2017. The investigation covers the period immediately before the attack and several months following.
The report highlights lessons learned from the incident including that relatively simple actions could have protected a number of computer systems and that response plans and communication plans should be put in place now to overcome the challenges faced by any future cyber breaches.
