This World Bank report reviews and evaluates three case study examples from the Global South on the use of civic technology initiatives.
The aim of these technologies is to facilitate citizen engagement in the decision making process for policy and public services. The report includes evaluation of both sides of civic technology;
- ‘yelp’, the extent to which citizens adopt the technology and
- ‘teeth’, the response to citizen voice from the public sector.
The case study evaluations include Uganda’s U-report, Kenya’s MajiVoice and Rio Grande du Sol’s participatory budgeting.
